To unlock Dredge’s good ending, you need to find the Old Mayor, an NPC who spawns at one of four makeshift docks around the game’s world.

When I went for the good ending, tracking him down was way harder than it needed to be, so here’s the quickest method.

Quick answer

The Old Mayor can spawn at O2, J3, F15, or P10. Check each camp for a lit campfire/smoke. If he’s not at one, move to the next — his location is randomised and he can move.

To find the Old Mayor in Dredge, you need to sail to one of four makeshift camps:

  • F15 in Twisted Strand
  • J3 between Stellar Basin and Gale Cliffs
  • O2 in Gale Cliffs
  • P10 in Devil’s Spine
A screenshot of my Dredge game map, showing all of the camps the Old Mayor can appear at.

How to find the Old Mayor step by step

  1. Open your map and mark co-ordinates O2, J3, F15, and P10
  2. Sail to a makeshift dock and check the campsite
  3. If the campfire is lit, the Old Mayor will be there – talk to him until dialogue repeats
  4. If he’s not there, sail to the next camp
  5. Keep rotating through all four until you find him (he can move between locations)

What to do after you find the Old Mayor

Once you’ve spoken to him, you’re on the path to the good ending. You’ll just need to:

  • Return to Greater Marrow and speak with the Lighthouse Keeper about the Crimson Book
  • Confront the Collector and make sure to choose the new dialogue options that come up

By doing the above, you’ll unlock the good ending of Dredge and will be given a completely different end credits sequence (Which I loved).

That’s it! I hope the guide has helped. Don’t forget to check out my Dredge hub for more guides. Happy fishing!
